Long Beach Police Given Authority to Detain Photographers If Photos Have "No Apparent Esthetic Value

Discussion in 'Restrictions on Photography' started by FriendlySkies, Aug 25, 2011.

  1. Just found this gem

If you decide to take a photo of something that is not something that a tourist would take photos of, then prepare to be detained, while an office checks our your story, and runs your info in the system. Beyond stupid

I majored in Mathematics and Secondary Education, but even a clueless moron like me can describe the artistic value and message of that photograph.

Is that a legislated law, or an "administrative" law? I'd love to talk to the CA politicians who voted for that one. Epic Fail!

    Pictures of an industrial park.

There's a lot of people like this that publish their work on the internet. I only wish I had that kind of photographic talent...
  4. Oh no! That back stairwell looks like something a terrorist would photograph!! Red Alert

That is exactly the kind of picture that I take while traveling. ^

Now, I'm not saying that mine would turn out as good, but the "normal" tourist spots simply don't interest my eye. Like in most cities I can have pictures of those corporate conglomerate constructed things if I just stay at home.

When did local police become such pansies?
